As we all know, Kollywood is the biggest film industry after Bollywood in India when compared with other woods in the south. It’s quite normal for heroines to migrate to Bollywood once they establish their prominence in Tamil film industry. Many of the leading heroines in Tamil are from other states and Kollywood has produced several notable heroines for years now.
When it comes to Telugu film industry, only a few homegrown beauties succeed in their soil while others move onto other industries. The reason for Telugu beauties to set their eyes on Kollywood is that they easily get offers here and Kollywood produce more movies than any other industries in the south.
Actresses like Anjali, Sri Divya, Anandhi (Rakshita) are from Telugu industry and became popular in Tamil in no time. Likewise, the latest Telugu beauty to relocate to Kollywood is Ritu Varma who has a couple of big ticket films in her kitty. Her debut film VIP 2 with Dhanush is all set for release next month and she is busy shooting for Gautham Menon – Vikram ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ and Kalaiyarasan’s China.
It appears like that the Hyderabad girl didn’t get as many offers as expected. She saw only two releases in Telugu as a lead in the past two years and she doesn’t have any other films right now in Telugu. Though she got a big break with ‘Peli Choopulu’, it seems like Telugu filmmakers quite hesitate to pick her for their films.
If Ritu Varma grabs the likes of Tamil movie goers in her upcoming films, she will get a prominent place in Kollywood for sure. Based on the trailer of VIP 2, it appears that she will have only a little space, however, her role in ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ will get her the needed space in Tamil as female leads have significant roles in Gautham movies
