After the launch of its own video-on-demand streaming service ‘Sun NXT’, market leader SUN TV is on a buying spree. The network has been acquiring the satellite rights of the new movies for months now and is being the most watched channel in India.
The network has now acquired the broadcast and digital rights for Ajith’s Vivegam, Suriya’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam and Singam 3, and Sivakarthikeyan – Vignesh Shivan’s untitled movie.
They have previously procured the satellite rights of Sivakarthikeyan – Ponram’s next film, Nayanthara’s ‘Aramm’, Prabudeva’s ‘Gulebakavali’, Santhanam – Selvaraghavan’s ‘Mannavan Vanthanadi’ and Sibi Sathyaraj’s ‘Sathya’.
Sun NXT is touted as the biggest digital platform having more than 4000 movies in four South Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Sources close to the network has said that Sun TV will acquire more and more films in the coming days and add them to its app’s exclusive movie library.
