After giving a solid hit ‘Rangoon’ a month ago, Gauthm Karthik is back with yet another intriguing film that deals with education mafia and how students were affected with a grasping screenplay. The trailer of the film created a huge buzz among movie buffs, particularly engineering students and we indeed accept that fact that the film has lived up to the hype it created in the past.
The film carries a needed social message for the engineering students and their parents and how miserable is our education system. Thanks to director R Kannan of this film for dealing with a sensitive subject and the film features Gautham Karthik and Shraddha Srinath in lead roles. RJ Balaji, Super Subbarayan, Stunt Silva, Bharath Reddy, and Mayilsamy form the rest of the cast. Thaman is the composer of the film while songs were written by Arunraja Kamaraj and Vivek. The film is produced by Masala Pix along with Ramprasad of MKRP Pictures.
Ivan Thanthiran Movie Story Review
Sakthi (Gautham Karthik) and Balaji (RJ Balaji) are close friends and engineering graduates. They possess a business who make replica of original products using reverse engineering and also specialized in servicing electronic products. Their life gets complicated after exposing Union Human Resource Development Minister Devaraj (Super Subbarayan) corruption of getting crores of money from educational institutes.
The revelation leads to mass protest by students against minister and thus the ruling party expel him from the minister post and subsequently he faces an enquiry commission to prove his innocence. The rage villain hunts for Sakthi to kill him as revenge. How Sakthi tackles the powerful politician forms the crux of the story.
Gautham Karthik, is the talented actor who is struggling to establish his footprint in the industry, has done his job perfect in this film. RJ Balaji, on the other hand, who comes his friend also has an equally important role on par with hero and travels along with him throughout the film. Though, this film deals with a serious issue that forms the major issue in the higher education, there are lots of comedies, romance and other commercial factors beside serious part.
RJ Balaji is the only entertainment element in the film has delivered terrific performance with his usual hilarious counters and dialogues. Even the love portions in the film are well composed and conveyed. This is Shraddha Srinath’s debut film in Tamil who looks lovely and homely and of course impressed audience, thanks to her good looks and next-door girl performances. Kannan has executed his intelligence in direction with simple, neat and seamless screenplay, expressed everything that he wish to covey in a clear manner and intriguing consecutive scenes.
Coming to downside of the film, there are quite a few logic loopholes along the film, villain is not as powerful as we expected though being a powerful minister and lags in execution. Corruption in education forms the core plot of the film, so audiences are able to easily relate with the film, however the director fails to stick with the realistic factors in the film and looks unrealistic at certain times. RJ Balaji has to improvise his acting skills or it will be difficult for him to sustain in this industry. Background score and a couple of songs were pleasant to listen and watch.
Despite a few negatives in the film, Ivan Thanthiran is definitely a good watch and will entertain you and on the top, it has a serious plot and message.
